Indigenous Youth Guitar Giveaway Series

Brock Stonefish is a Certified Guitar Luthier and Designer who is dedicated to making a difference for Indigenous Youth. The Indigenous Youth Guitar Giveaway Series or IYGGS is a program founded by Brock Stonefish to help get High-Quality Musical Instruments into the hands of kids who otherwise might not have access. This is Brock’s initiative to address Mental Health in our Indigenous Communities as our youth hold the highest suicide rates in North America. In an article by CBC, readers learned of Brock’s personal struggles with suicide at the age of 13, Brock explained to CBC that it was picking up and learning the Guitar that saved his life.

"I just want to provide that avenue for Indigenous youth, that I know that have the same problems I did when I was young on my journey through life." Brock Stonefish -CBC News

A Talented IYGGS Recipient.

This guitar was donated by Buddy and Janet Sands of Walpole Island Unceded Territory to the IYGGS. The instrument made it’s way back to Walpole Island into the hands of a youth who was kind enough to send in this video. This guitar received some modifications like a complete fret level/crown/dressing, Custom Abalone Inlayed Brass Bridge Pins, as well as Gold Tuning Machines with Boutique level Tortoise Turning Buttons. Also some wood work was done to install a Dual Microphone Electric Guitar Pickup System that can be charged by USB cable. The Pickup System features one built-in Studio Condenser Microphone as well as one Humbucking Pickup with Bass and Treble EQ adjustments, a Phase Button, and 2 Volume Adjustments for both Condenser Microphone and Humbucking Pickup. This video sure shows the benefits of dedication to practice. Very Nice Picking.

This next Guitar made it to a 15 year old resident of Fort Smith in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
